Steak 'N Shake is probably my favorite restaurant. I never get tired of going there. Went there this afternoon for a bowl of chili. Scrumptious. Here are some of the great things about Steak 'N Shake.
- Those fabulous thin fries.
- Can't beat the chili. Non-spicy, thick, tasty.
- They show a playful, deliberately cheesy sense of humor in their commercials.
- Neon signage.
- They give you those big, wide straws which require less sucking power, especially with milkshakes.
- The gumball machines. Pam always gives me a quarter after I pay the bill, so I can get a big cherry gumball.
- Your drink comes in a really big glass (which is actually glass).
- The best patti melt anywhere (though my favorite sandwich is the Frisco Melt).
- The black-and-white checkerboard design motif.
- Open 24 hours.
Career-wise, I've been hanging around and writing about and cheering on churches and pastors for the past 25 years as my denomination's Communications Director.
