Shoot 'em Up

Pam and I watched "Shoot 'em Up," with Clive Owen and Paul Giametti. Pure, 100%, unadulterated, gratuitious violence from beginning to end. And for both Pam and me, a disturbingly guilty pleasure. Wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone...and yet, I'd see it again. I'm not sure if this says anything about my spiritual maturity.

Today Gary talked about how much money is spent on watching PG 13 and R rated movies. I think it was like 90 billion dollars each year is spent on movies that use profanity, violence and sexual content. He had other statistics concerning smoking, drinking, gambling and the numbers were staggering. His basic point was "What are we thinking as Christians, when we support these things with our money?" It was a wrap up message for the series "Things we don't talk about in church like BLEEEEEEEP"

It makes you stop and think just what exactly we are supporting when we enjoy what the world has to offer.
