The Government Gets Web-Savvy
The new GOP.gov is a nice-looking, well-developed site. Dig down to see information about each Republican representative. Not as sharp as the new Whitehouse.gov site, but I wouldn't expect that. (Interestingly, Michelle Obama's page on the Whitehouse site doesn't include a picture of her.)

Here are some other sites:
The various departments all have their own website, most of which, I'm guessing, will be redone as the new agency heads take over. I browsed through them all. Most are well-done, with just a few exceptions.

  • The Department of Education site, just ed.gov, is my favorite. Very attractive. Lots of white space.
  • The State Department site is nice, too.
USA.gov will take you to the websites for all government agencies, but state and federal. Right now, most websites are information-based. It'll be interesting to see how they build Web 2.0 features in, with interaction and community tools. The Whitehouse site will, I'm sure, take the lead in this.

About Me

Steve DennieCareer-wise, I've been hanging around and writing about and cheering on churches and pastors for the past 25 years as my denomination's Communications Director.
I write primarily for my own amusement. If anyone wants to eavesdrop, they're welcome to it. My heartbeat is serving God faithfully through the local church. But my posts repeatedly stray into sports, politics, movies, and other nonsense.
I've been blogging since 2004, and it's been fun. Please understand that, though I work for the United Brethren in Christ denomination, the nonsense I spew out here comes from my own semi-functional brain in a totally personal, non-official capacity. Yes, that's a disclaimer.

To leave comments, I suggest using OpenID. You can use it not only here, but on tens of thousands of other sites.
With OpenID, you need to remember just one username. Sweet. It's free and simple.
You can get an OpenID identity from many places, but I recommend these three: MyID.net, Signon.com, and MyOpenID.com.
But you may already have an OpenID and not know it. Let me tell you about it.
